The SEBRAE System - Brazilian Service to Support Micro and Small Enterprises - is a private entity with public-interest that intends to stimulate the entrepreneurial spirit and promote competitiveness and self-sustainable development of small businesses.

The history of SEBRAE in Rio Grande do Sul started in 1972. 40 years ago, the Brazilian Service to Support Micro and Small Enterprise in Rio Grande do Sul (Sebrae / RS) was instituted as an private associative entity, non-profit, in the form of autonomous social service. [1]

Souza Cruz

Souza Cruz is leader of the domestic market. The company has six of the ten best selling brands in Brazil, producing about 80 billion cigarettes per year. In the first half of 2012, the participation of Souza Cruz was 60.1% of the Brazilian total market.

Operating across the product lifecycle, from production and processing of tobacco to manufacturing and distribution of cigarettes, Souza Cruz directly serves about 300,000 retails across the country, beyond the reach of nearly five thousand cities.

Samarco

Founded in 1977, Samarco is a Brazilian mining company, privately held, controlled in equal parts by two shareholders: BHP Billiton Brazil Ltda. and Vale SA. Its main product are iron ore pellets produced from the transformation of low content minerals in a noble product, with high added value, and marketed to the global steel industry. It is essentially an exporting company and, in 2013, sold its production to 20 countries in the Americas, Asia, Africa, Europe and Middle East companies.

With the inauguration of the Fourth Pellet Plant in the first half of 2014, the nominal production capacity increased from 22.25 million to 30.5 million tons per year, generating more than 2900 direct jobs and 3500 indirect jobs.
